As per your ticket, you must ensure you are at the correct pickup location at the time and date specified. You must be ready to board on time. Please be aware that, dependent on the pickup location, your bus may have prior stops to yours but should depart your pickup location within 30 minutes of your booked time.

When you're at the Bus Stop that you have booked, please signal to any passing Ski Bus to stop. Some Ski Buses may already be full or on a different route so will continue driving past, but if you are at your booked Bus Stop at the designated time and on the right side of the road, then when signalled, your booked Ski Bus will stop to collect you.

If you have booked via a third party, please check your booking before you collect your ski pass or through your online account to confirm that the pick-up location, time, date and destination are correct.

If you are driving into town to catch the bus, vehicle parking is also available in central Queenstown at Man St Car Park, close to the Ski Bus pick up location.

Driving to coronet peak

Too easy!

Coronet Peak is accessible via a fully sealed alpine road. Please drive to the conditions, maintain two-way access and carry snow chains at all times. We've included some tips below to help you plan your drive.

Before you head up:

  • Make sure you are carrying snow chains and know how to fit them.
  • Always check the snow report, it's updated from 6:30am and throughout the day. It’ll show you the weather & road conditions, lift status, as well as carpark availability.

When you get here:

  • Use the drop zone - Got a car full of snow-lovers? Use our Drop Zone in front of the base building to unload your gear and passengers before heading down to park. It’s the easiest way to get the crew on snow.
  • Find a car park - Coronet Peak has 7 car parks. During peak season and on powder days, they can fill up quickly so plan ahead and allow extra time to reach the slopes. If you’re parked in our top car parks you can take the signed walking path straight to the base building. Ideal for those chasing a little warm up.
  • Free Shuttles run continuously between all car parks and the base building. Just hop on at the signed pickup location, no bookings needed. Heading back to the car? Easy. Just catch a return shuttle.

Rideshare: Help us reduce emissions and get everyone up the mountain for more Good Times by car pooling. We recommend the Snow Riders website for coordinating ride sharing.

Do I need snow chains?

Snow chains should always be carried during winter. Alpine weather can change quickly, and chains may become mandatory during snowfall or icy conditions. Check our Snow Report for the road conditions before heading up for the day so you know what to expect.

How far is Coronet Peak from Queenstown?

Coronet Peak is just a 20 minute drive from central Queenstown, making it one of New Zealand's most accessible ski fields. From coffee in town to carving cord in under half an hour? That’s a Peak day.

Does Coronet Peak have drop off zones?

Yes. Drop zones are areas right at the main mountain building where you can drop your family and snow gear off before you park your car. Remember this is just a drop zone, so be ready to all depart once arrived.

Drive with extra caution in these areas as there are many kids, vehicles reversing and gear.

Where do I fit snow chains if they are needed?

Our road crew will be located at the point on the access road where you’ll need to fit snow chains to your vehicle. Please ensure you pull over to the side of the road before putting on your chains. If you need a hand to get them on, just ask one of our crew.

Can I drive any vehicle up the Coronet Peak access road?

All vehicles are permitted to access Coronet Peak and 4WD vehicles are not required. However, depending on your vehicle, you may need to fit snow chains, and there can be restrictions on high-sided vehicles such as campervans during inclement weather.

If you’re travelling in a rental vehicle, we recommend checking with your rental company before your visit, as driving on alpine roads or using snow chains is not always covered.

For the latest road conditions and updates, check the Snow Report, which is updated daily by 6:30am.

How can I find updates about the Coronet Peak access road?

To find out about daily updates on the road conditions, car park availability and whether snow chains are required, check out the Snow Report on our website.
