Ski Coronet Peak.
Queenstown’s Home of Good Times

Standing tall above the basin, the Peak carries the same energy as the town below - bold, buzzing, and always ready for Good Times.

Ask any Queenstowner and they’ll tell you Coronet is the local’s mountain. Not just because it’s 20 minutes from town, but because it’s part of the community. Since 1947, generations have learned, carved, raced, laughed, and made memories here.

Does Coronet Peak have snowmaking?

We love snow, it’s what we do. But when Mother Nature is a little shy, we like to give her a hand.

There are three key factors that create the ideal conditions for us to make fantastic snow:

  • Cold temperatures, -2.5 wet-bulb at a minimum (wet-bulb is a calculation of humidity and ambient temperature)
  • Light to no wind
  • Clear skies and no moisture in the air

We have 232 fully automated snow guns, supplied with water by 9 pumps from 4 pump-houses capable of flowing 300+ litres per second. 5 reservoirs with a storage capacity of 285,000,000 litres.

We catch and reuse 80% of the water that we use. All this makes for the biggest automated system in the southern hemisphere!

Do I need to book in advance?

We highly recommend booking online before you arrive, especially during weekends, holidays and powder days. Booking ahead helps you lock in the best price and makes your day on the mountain smoother from the get-go.

How often is the Mt Hutt snow report updated?

The snow report is posted daily throughout the ski season and is regularly updated throughout the day with the latest lift status, snowfall, weather and road conditions.

Is Mt Hutt good for beginners?

Absolutely. Coronet Peak is one of the best places to learn in New Zealand, with wide beginner areas, dedicated learning spaces and easy progression terrain. Add in fast lifts, friendly instructors and Queenstown just down the road, and you’ve got the perfect setup for first turns.

What facilities are available at Coronet Peak?

We keep things simple up here at Coronet Peak. Everything you need for a smooth day on the snow is right at base, no mucking about.

Facilities
You’ll find bathrooms, changing areas, outside storage for easy access, and paid storage lockers in our Base Building. Whether you're travelling light or toting the full whānau setup, we’ve got space to stash your gear while you hit the slopes.

Rentals
First time up the hill? Travelling light? Our on-mountain Rental Centre has you sorted with skis, snowboards, boots, helmets and waterproof outerwear.

Food & Coffee
We have a range of cafes & restaurants on-mountain to keep you fueled for the day whether you're looking for a hearty meal, quick snack, or a cheeky aperol to end your day on a high, we've got something to match your speed.

Lessons
Whether it's their first slide or they’re ready to level up, our ski and snowboard lessons are run by qualified instructors who know how to keep it fun and confidence-building for both kids and adults.

Getting Around
We’ve made getting around easy. From our fast lifts to our free car park shuttles running all day between lower lots. No need to carry all the gear uphill.

Extras
We’ve got free Wi-Fi at base, water refill stations, and a team of legends on hand to help you out. Got a question? Just ask, we’re all about making your day epic.

What is a MyPass Card?

A MyPass is a small card, about the size of a credit card you need to use to access the passes you've purchased for Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt. It allows you to access the conveyors and lifts, as well as any rental gear, lessons or Queenstown Ski Bus rides you have purchased.

On top of that, you can add MyPass Money to your MyPass card as credit for purchasing anything on our mountains. Since all the mountains are cashless, it’s perfect for giving the kids something to buy their lunch with.

To get your MyPass card, you can pick one up from our Guest Services team or our self-serve kiosks in one of the following locations:

  • Coronet Peak, in the base building – right by ground floor entrance.
  • The Remarkables, in the base building – right by ground floor entrance.
  • Mt Hutt, in the base building – right by ground floor entrance.
  • Our Snow Centre in downtown Queenstown.
What snow gear can I rent at Coronet Peak?

On-mountain ski, snowboard and helmet rentals are available for adults and children, along with jackets and pants. For hygiene reasons, gloves and goggles are not available to rent. If you need them, our on-mountain snow shop stocks the latest gear and is an easy stop for any last-minute essentials. We recommend booking rentals online in advance during peak periods to save time on arrival.
