Snowplay Fun for Everyone - From 29 May, our Snowplay Zone kicks off the season of winter magic. Thanks to our new Snow Factory, early season snow is guaranteed in our beginner areas. Perfect for tobogganing, early-season skiing or riding, snowman building, and snowball battles.

Peak Gondola Sightseeing - Ride the Peak Gondola to the top and take in unmatched panoramic views over Queenstown, Lake Whakatipu, and the majestic Southern Alps. It’s a must for anyone chasing those winter “wow” moments.

Sledding and Snowplay - Hire a sled and experience the magic of racing down the snow with your friends and family in our designated sledding areas.

Food & Drink at the Base - Fuel your alpine day with a taste of Kiwi hospitality. Our cafés and bars serve everything from barista-made coffee to hearty bites and après favourites. Grab a seat, soak up the alpine atmosphere, and watch the snow play unfold.

13 June - 4 October: Full Mountain open daily 9am - 4pm (9pm when Night Ski is operating)

Getting up the mountain made easy

Relax and enjoy the scenic journey to and from Coronet Peak on our warm and comfortable Ski Bus fleet. Departing from central Queenstown and stopping at the main bus stops along the way.

All passengers are required to reserve a departure time slot and pickup location when purchasing a Ski Bus pass. Capacity is limited and may sell out over peak periods.

Ski Bus Schedule

  • Departs regularly from 7:30am until 11am from 9 Duke St, central Queenstown. We stop at all main bus stop en route to Coronet Peak. Returns are fron 1pm onwards, no specific booking time required.
  • On Night Ski days, we offer buses from 9 Duke St to Coronet Peak that depart on the hour from 3pm-6pm. Return buses depart from Coronet Peak at 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm, & 9pm

Driving up?

Too easy!

Coronet Peak is accessible via a fully sealed alpine road. Please drive to the conditions, maintain two-way access and carry snow chains at all times. We've included some tips below to help you plan your drive.

Before you head up:

  • Make sure you are carrying snow chains and know how to fit them
  • Always check the snow report, its updated from 6:30am and throughout the day. It’ll show you the weather & road conditions, lift status, as well as carpark availability

When you get here:

  • Utilise the drop zone - Got a car full of snow-lovers? Use our Drop Zone beside the base building to unload your gear and passengers before heading down to park. It’s the easiest way to get the crew on snow.
  • Find a car park - Coronet Peak has 7 car parks available. During peak season and on powder days, they can fill up quickly so plan ahead and allow extra time to reach the slopes. If you’re parked in our top car parks you can take the signed walking path straight to the base building.
  • Free Shuttles run continuously between all car parks and the base building. Just hop on at the signed pickup location, no bookings needed. Heading back to the car? Easy. Just catch a return shuttle.

Rideshare: Help us reduce emissions and get everyone up the mountain for more Good Times by car pooling. We recommend the Snow Riders website for coordinating ride sharing.

What facilities are available for non-skiers at Coronet Peak?

Coronet Peak isn’t just for skiers and snowboarders. Sightseeing and snowplay guests have access to a range of on-mountain facilities designed to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable.

Our mountain cafés and restaurants are open to all guests, serving barista coffee, hot meals, cabinet food, and après options with panoramic views across Lake Whakatipu. Indoor seating areas provide a warm place to relax, refuel, and take in the alpine atmosphere.

Retail is also available on mountain, with a snow shop stocked with winter essentials and souvenirs.

If you need extra layers, jackets, pants and snow boots are available to rent on mountain, making it easy to enjoy the snow without bringing specialist gear.

Whether you’re riding the Gondola, building a snowman, taking photos, or simply enjoying lunch with a view, The Peak offers a genuine alpine experience without needing to ski.

Can children go sightseeing at Coronet Peak?

Absolutely. Sightseeing and snowplay are family-friendly experiences. Children must be supervised at all times, and appropriate winter clothing is required.

What should I wear for sightseeing or snowplay?

Coronet Peak is an alpine environment and conditions can change quickly. Waterproof jackets and pants, warm base layers, gloves, and sunglasses are recommended. Sturdy, closed footwear with good grip is essential. Jackets, pants, and snow boots are available to rent on the mountain. We recommend booking rentals online in advance during peak periods to save time on arrival.

Is snowplay available at Coronet Peak?

Yes. You can enjoy snowplay and tobogganing in designated areas on the mountain. It’s a great way for families and first-timers to experience snow in a safe environment. Toboggans are available for hire from Guest Services, or bring your own.

Can I visit Coronet Peak without skiing?

Definitely. The Peak is worth the trip for sightseeing alone, with breathtaking alpine views, mountain cafés and snowplay opportunities throughout winter.
