Ski Racing at coronet peak

Coronet Peak – a leading ski race training venue

Since 1947, we have continually developed our world class facilities which are now home to Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super-G courses. The gradient, snow conditions and terrain on the East Face of Coronet Peak are internationally recognised, attracting elite ski teams from around the globe.

We’re committed to growing the sport of Alpine Ski Racing in New Zealand, so whether you’re new to the competition scene or an Olympic athlete like our local legend Alice Robinson, you’ll find inclusive development programmes, facilities and coaches of the highest calibre at Coronet Peak.

a reputation for performance

Coronet Peak is the training ground for some of the worlds best! This includes New Zealand’s own local world cup star Alice Robinson and international teams including the US, Swiss, Slovakian, Norwegian, Swedish and Austria. We are the home of the Winter games, Continental Cup ANC series, Coronet Cup and New Zealand National Champs.

Race facilities

The Performance Centre located in Rocky Gully is where the magic happens! Our T-bar has a vertical rise of 180m with a ride time of 3 minutes, delivering fast laps for serious training.

The Race Arena on skiers left of the T-bar is a world class FIS homologated Slalom hill. Snowmaking helps ensure great coverage and the runs are prepared with water injection. It has two steep pitches and is constantly challenging the best skiers in the world. Out-Wide is our FIS homologated SL and GS race hill.

Magic

Queenstown alpine ski team

Coronet Peak is the proud training facility provider for Queenstown Alpine Ski Team (QAST), a community-based team affiliated to Snowsports New Zealand. QAST runs part and full time race training throughout the season for 8-18 year olds.

qast development programme

The Queenstown Alpine Ski Team (QAST) and Coronet Peak have designed a programme to spark the foundations of great ski racing. Over two weeks in the July school holidays, young skiers have access to the terrain, courses and coaching that build confidence, sharpen technique and introduce them to the thrill of the sport. It gives the participants a taste of real race training and the first step for those who want to continue with QAST through winter as this is a pre-entry requirement.
